A night of art in Oakland
Friday, July 19, 2013
Cotton Mill Studios, 1091 Calcot Place, Oakland, CA
RW Hawkins focuses his camera on subjects from decaying industria to the landscapes of the southwest. He chooses large format black and white photography because of the magic of the process. The scene captured on film serves as a starting point for the silver gelatin printing process which provides an incredible amount of artistic control. “My goal is to transcend the actual scene and create an expressive print that is more than a mere record” says RW.
